THE JOY OF A DESTINATION REACHED!

We are so looking forward to this coming season and enjoying the reward of much blood, sweat and tears.  This will be the season to enjoy the healing, to surrender to this space's embrace.
We're calling this space ' The Sanctuary', referring more to the atmosphere than a place of specific use.  Some will refer to it as The Mission or Pegg's Mission, maybe the vineyards or lavendar fields at Ruggle's Run.  Or it may just be stumbled upon by chance...        it doesn't matter what you call it as long as one is left with an open replenished heart after spending time here.

                                                                                                Late days of WINTER

Nature's abounding five basic elements hold us in their grasp.  Not only do they comprise the Universe but each one also represents parts of what we are made up of and then in turn corresponds to specific emotions or thought reactions.  Hence we are greatly connected to Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Spirit.
Spending time in nature balances our bodies.  It strengthens and nourishes our souls, allowing healing and ultimately the freedom to thrive.  This is Divine energy in nature simply asking us to let our light shine...

So all that said, we decided to create a mobile to remind us all of our potential.  Soon it will be hanging in The Sanctuary!

We used a piece of Sodalite for Water, Citrine for Fire,
Green Aventurine for Air, Amethyst for Spirit and
my favourite, Clear Crystal for Mother Earth.

Of course MH salvage too.
All suspended by a big bright star.

Nice winter project!

Then SPRING arrives...        like the silent beauty of a smile.

APRIL 2018

How quickly the Winter calm turns to maintenance.  Some critter protection and some tidying up to start...

Some prep work for the outdoor signage.  Happy to steal a bit of my husband's attention before he disappears into farming once again.  Thank you, Honey!
We are up-cycling the frame from the little window that was once up high in the front gable.  It will take on a slightly new purpose but still as framing.

We had a good day to cement the posts in.  Breezy but warm enough.  An extra set of hands too.

END of APRIL.  Time to plan a celebration!
Somehow it all comes together...
Fun collaboration with Explore Pelee and Stone House.

A little time out from preparations to enjoy dandelion season and our first heritage daffodils.

MAY came quickly.  After confirming food&drink and transportation details with Clayton and AnneMarie the rest seemed fairly low key.  Invaluable Ruth took care of a light drink and goodies to be served at The Sanctuary and her beautiful fresh cut flowers and greens dressed the place up in Sunday Best!  Family too was my rock in the final days before, lending support and helping co-ordinate last minute details and signage hanging.  Just enough help here and there!

                                                                                                  What a day!

I'm so glad we hosted a Completion Celebration.  I wasn't sure if it was necessary but was encouraged to do so.  Now I know it was the right thing to do.  It was so rewarding to be surrounded by comments of joy and gratitude for what we have created.  The atmosphere was incredibly magical and expressed so openly by everyone.  Elle Klassen's violin was the perfect compliment!

We believe about a hundred guests came out, about three-quarters ticket holders and the rest drop-ins.  Dolly the Trolley did a great job of shuttling visitors back and forth between The Sanctuary and Stone House.  Pelee was good to everyone, thanks for taking care of our guests.  I still hear stories of the day's adventures before and after our event.

Thank you for making us a part of your day and for all the encouragement and love.
May you continue to have quiet moments of celebration when you spend time at The Sanctuary.

Another favorite route to The Mission.  Brown's Rd., where joy filled sightings abound.
At times one must yield to the families of scampering bunnies.

Nothing could have put a damper on our magical celebration.  Not even some unexpected challenges that came up just days prior.  Don't want to give it much attention but feel it should be commented on out of respect for the artists plus anyone who has been following us on this website or Facebook.  Many artists have accompanied us on this journey from the very beginning.  We all know creativity nourishes the soul.  A few special pieces were created specifically for the space.
By choosing peace over struggle we gave way to pressure to not include these pieces.  This was very disappointing.  The light that surrounds this project is magnificent.  The intention of 'all is one' inclusive openness of these pieces still exists in the finished spaces.  At this point we don't know the fate of the art pieces but believe time will give us the answers.

The SUMMER months were glorious.  Enchanted visits along with touch-ups and watching our plantings grow.  Offerings of nature's treasures left behind along with reflections of time spent slipped into our new 'thought box'.
Is there anything better than experiencing life's simple pleasures!

A thought box is a private spot to put down intentions, memories, wishes, inspirational thoughts and so on.  It was a surprise to find some more old photos of The Mission someone left behind for us too!

We had Soulful Salvage for you to 'get a piece of it' this year at The Bakery and Pelee Art Works.  It was fun popping in and out of these yummy places, checking in on stock and displays.

Being able to collaborate with 'May You Know Joy' in offering her intention card decks is an honour.  The energy and vibe of what she shares perfectly compliments and speaks of the driving force behind The Mission Hall Project.  Maybe we will even be able to bring Adrienne herself to Pelee next year to share with you all!

Our twelve copper tiles which we had commissioned Rob Tymstra to hammer out, evolved into beautiful MH1911 wood backed wall art pieces for your home and cottage.  They didn't last long and as a result 'Pelee Island Copperworks' was born!

A little cash flow helps with the building maintenance fund, but mostly we just love creating and sharing joy!

It's been quite an 'official first year'.  I believe The Sanctuary is all of and maybe even more than I dreamed it could be, in it's own quiet way.  Moments experienced of what it offers have been many.  With what we see while there along with Thought Box notes and comments here and there, we can only wonder how many have already received from this atmospheric place.
Thank you and may you be blessed with grace on your journey...

As we slip closer to FALL, I wonder what next year will bring.  Two presentations were given this year for different heritage gatherings.
Not my cup of tea, public speaking, but I did it anyway because as time moves on we learn the importance of sharing our stories. I must admit they were both wonderfully successful.  I was asked to share with two small group gatherings at The Sanctuary but they were cancelled by the weather.
We'll have to plan for earlier in the season next time around.
We never know for sure where life might take us...

WINTER brought some early cold temperatures.  Planning to cozy up inside and work on the 'history buff corner' page along with some new graphic work and Soulful Salvage pieces.
